.the artist

Shehzad Afzaal

I started the Duniya Collection back in 2020 as a way to explore and capture the essence of landmarks and cityscapes from around the world. Every artwork in this series is created from scratch, and my process is deeply personal and rooted in my passion for architecture and urban storytelling.

Research

It all begins with research. I study the location, its history, and its architectural details to understand the story behind it. Once I have a clear vision, I start sketching digitally using my drawing tablet. The blank canvas is where I experiment with lines, shapes, and perspectives to create a foundation for the artwork.

Digital

I love working digitally because it gives me the flexibility to refine every detail, layer by layer. I use bold strokes, clean lines, and a mix of textures to bring out the character of each landmark. My urban sketching style is a blend of precision and creativity, and I enjoy pushing the boundaries of what’s possible with digital tools.

Process

For me, the process is as important as the final piece. I take my time to ensure that every element in the sketch feels authentic and as per my sketching style. The digital medium also allows me to revisit my work later, refining or enhancing it as my skills and perspective evolve.

Future

The Duniya Collection is an ongoing project, and I plan to keep adding more landmarks and cityscapes to it. With each new sketch, I aim to connect with people by showcasing the diversity and beauty of the world through my own artistic lens. This collection is my way of celebrating the places that inspire me and sharing that inspiration with others.
